Is this my life?

I didn't get a chance to blog last night.  Charlie has been getting up at 6am, an hour earlier than normal, and I'm absolutely dead tired by the end of the day.  I was getting ready for bed last night and I was thinking how surreal my life is.  I live in China!  I've always wanted to travel and see the world, but I never thought I would have such an opportunity to see Asia like this.  That I would be living in Shanghai, living and experiencing the culture first hand.  I haven't had much time to stop and think about "living" here.  I've been so focused on keeping us busy to trying to make the best of our temporary living situation.  It is no wonder I haven't given our life much thought until now.

I have a wonderful husband who loves me unconditionally and does his best to see that I not only take care of our family but that I'm taken care of too.  I have two beautiful, healthy children who are smart and so loving.  I have a large and incredibly loving and supportive family and many wonderful friends.  I have a beautiful home in Shanghai and the opportunity to see China and Asia in a way I never thought I would. I am so blessed and I don't say it or think it enough.

  1. You are truly among the rare few who will experience a different culture, and an even rarer few who will live in an international city like Shanghai. So many of us will be limited to the internet and television to learn about China and its people, not to mention the nearby cultures and peoples that you will be able to visit.

We experienced this in France when you were a little older than Liliane is now. You will have fond memories of your time in China for the rest of your life. I cannot express how happy I am for you and your family, and how delighted I am that you and Lucas were adventurous enough to take a leap of faith into this new life... and yes, this IS your life!

    Bravo!

    Very proud Dad
